The NSW Branch of ACA invites all of our members to attend an in-person event “Coatings Technical Presentations – Australian Standards AS2312” on Thursday, August 11th 2022 at 6pm.
This event has experts deliver presentations that help explain the Australian Standard AS2312. Guide to the protection of structural steel against atmospheric corrosion by the use of protective coatings. This standard originated in 1967 as a guide for steel designers who needed advice on methods for the corrosion protection of structural steel and is still relevant today.
Please note, that registrations for this event close on Wednesday, 10th of August 2022 COB.
Registration for this event includes finger food & drinks.

- Coating condition assessment – Extending your service life
- AS2312 Section 8 – Maintenance of paint coating systems describes assessment of coating condition and criteria for when to repair an aging coating system. Our presentation will provide real life examples for;
- Coating assessment of 96m diameter steel water tanks and;
- Describe the primary degradation mechanisms and;
- Key considerations for when to spot repair or repaint.

A Discussion About Warranty, Life to First Maintenance and Design Life
Expected investment in infrastructure will grow significantly over the next 10 years, slightly ahead of the global average. The demand for quality and the ability to manage maintenance on structures is a serious concern for asset owners.
Designers and engineers are looking for assurances to provide the best outcome and builders and manufacturers are being asked to provide warranty and documentation to meet requirements. In this process, we seem to be witnessing some confusion on what can be achieved and what is required to achieve the best outcome for the protection of structural mild and galvanised steel.
In this presentation, Adam will discuss what life to first maintenance, design life and warranty mean from a manufacturers perspective. He will also discuss ways to achieve required outcomes using protective coatings on steel.
