Introduction to the Young Corrosion Group (YCG) and the Corrosion Industry is a national online webinar initiative from the NSW YCG branch to get the newcomers of the corrosion industry involved and learn from their peers as well as veterans in the industry. The evening will consist of a brief introduction from the NSW ACA branch President, William Ward followed by 3 presentations.

Everyone who registers and attends will automatically go into a random draw for winning e-gift cards valued at $100, $50 and $25, courtesy of ACA.

Speakers Bio:

Adam Hockey has worked for Dulux Group for 29 Years. In this time, he has had multiple roles within the Dulux business. Adam is a NACE 2 certified coating inspector, and his current role is a Business Development Executive. In this role he is responsible for specification writing, writing and presenting technical and industry-related presentations, working with key customers, specifiers, builders, engineers, asset owners, architects, and industry bodies to achieve the best outcomes for corrosion protection. Adam is passionate about education and providing technical support. In this presentation, Adam will discuss the causes of corrosion of steel and how protective coatings are used. He will also discuss a case history of a bridge that has been in service for 20 years.


Saeed Ali is a graduate from UNSW with a master’s degree in materials engineering. He has 15+ years of experience in materials testing, failure analysis, cathodic protection system and corrosion assessment on components in the infrastructure, mining, power plants, oil & gas industries. He has worked on a diverse range of EPC projects, being involved with all aspects of corrosion control designing systems, commissioning for buildings and industrial plants, bridges, storage tanks, and pipelines.
Saeed has completed the Cathodic Protection Technologist course (NACE CP3) and is accredited as a corrosion technologist by ACA. He has designed cathodic protection systems for several components. As a technical consultant in the asset reliability and integrity services, Saeed has also been involved with the examination of different types of failed components to identify failure modes, corrosion and welding-related failures, material wear, rail quality control, etc.


Paolo Alegro has been working at Infracorr as an undergraduate engineer starting in December last year. He is also in his final year of civil engineering and materials science double degree at UNSW. His eagerness to work in the corrosion engineering field stems from the personal drive to contribute to the prosperity and security of current and future communities through sustainable infrastructure. As a student in the latter stage of their degree, Paolo has a rigorous passion for self-improvement and is focused on the professional development of engineering-related skills. Paolo joined Infracorr to develop his technical skills and gain a greater insight into the corrosion industry. At Infracorr, Paolo’s primary job function is to undertake technical tasks under the direction of more senior technical staff which includes site work and office work. In this presentation, Paolo will be discussing his experience as an undergraduate engineer at Infracorr and how it has profoundly accelerated his technical and professional development.
