The ACA Protective Coatings Technical Group and The ACA Applicators Technical Group are excited to invite you to our upcoming Protective Coatings Roadshow, visiting Gladstone and Mackay, on the 2nd and 4th of June, respectively.
Both of these events will feature a series of presentations from a selection of guest presenters, an exhibition from a number of our Corporate Partners in the Coatings industry. They will also include an outdoor demonstration from our featured Outdoor Demo Partners BlastOne showcasing some of the latest equipment available for Coatings Professionals. Each day will be tailored specifically to the local area and relevant industry challenges and will be a premier opportunity to network and learn for all of our attendees.
Day One of our roadshow, Protective Coatings – Solutions and Innovations, in Gladstone, will focus on new infrastructure to include general coatings, corrosion under insulation and fireproofing.
Day Two, Protective Coatings – Maintaining Durability, in Mackay, will focus on ageing infrastructure and contractors engaged in traditional methods of surface preparation and coatings.

Justin Rigby – Principal (Remedy Asset Protection)
Justin is the Principal at Remedy Asset Protection and has extensive experience in the Protective Coatings industry developed over 25 years. He is a NACE CIP lecturer, Icorr Level 3 inspector, Level 2 Bridge Inspector and serves as Chairperson of two of the ACA’s Technical Groups. Justin has authored a number of papers for publication in prestigious journals and has presented at international conferences and in Australia with regard to concrete protection and coatings technologies. He has a passion for project delivery and his focus is on introducing efficiencies and building team-based strategies with enhanced performance and cost benefits for Clients and their suppliers.
Mike Rutherford – Principal (Conspectus)
Mike is the Principal of Conspectus (QLD) Pty Ltd, an independent consulting company providing specialised asset maintenance engineering and asset management support services. Mike has in excess of 35 years experience in concrete remediation and protection gained through product development and marketing, contracting and consultancy positions and currently holds positions with ACRA Queensland Sub-branch Committee and the ACA Applicator Technical Group and is an active ACRA Board Member. Industry Corporate and Individual Memberships are held with ACRA, ACA, CIA, NACE, SSPC
Tim Billing – National Proposals Manager (National Concrete Solutions)
Tim has worked in the concrete remediation and protection industry for 13 years. Over this time, Tim’s worked with above and below ground waterproofing including sheet and liquid membranes, concrete repairs, various injection systems, jointing rehabilitation, decorative flooring systems and general protection systems in Industrial, Commercial and Infrastructure projects. Special focus whilst in the industry has been on rehabilitation and protective coatings within water infrastructure with major emphasis on concrete repairs and epoxy coatings. Other fields of work have been in marine structures, bridge and culverts, and general infrastructure. Tim’s passion is around continuous improvement in the field, finding innovation, and education to see improved outcomes for asset owners, product manufacturers and contractors alike.
Wayne Thomson – Managing Director (PFP Systems)
Wayne is managing director of PFP Systems, a specialist fireproofing, coatings and grouting applicator operating in the Australasian marketplace. Wayne’s background includes working in the energy, chemical and textile industries in South Africa, New Zealand and Italy. He is a Mechanical Engineer with a PhD in International Business. He is a committee member of the Queensland Branch of the ACA and a past board member.
Ian Godson – Director and Principal Engineer (Infracorr)
Ian Godson, the Managing Director, Principal Consultant and founder of Infracorr Consulting, has over 30 years of experience in all aspects of infrastructure remedial engineering, including condition assessment, remedial design and cathodic protection design and installation. As well as his extensive experience with Cathodic Protection and condition assessment, Ian has a long history of involvement in Design for Durability. Major projects he has been involved in include the Port Capacity Project (Webb Dock), the Sydney Opera House Substructure, and the City Link Bridge Structures.
David Harrison – Market & Specifications Engineer (Galvanising Association of Australia)
David is the Market and Specification Engineer for the GAA. He has a PhD in Chemical Engineering from The University of Newcastle, and over 20 years experience in the steel industry, including 10 years spent managing the research and development of metallic coatings and coating processes for Austube Mills. His research interests includes in metallic coating durability and the atmospheric corrosion mechanisms of zinc and zinc aluminium alloy coatings in marine environments.
Scott Logan – Infrastructure Maintenance Superintendent – Protective Coatings and Structural Maintenance (Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal Pty Ltd.) (Mackay Only)
Scott Logan is an Experienced Maintenance Superintendent and Project professional with almost 30 years of work and site experience in Heavy industrial and Offshore maintenance. Scott has a demonstrated history of leading teams with safety and sustainability through construction, maintenance & manufacturing fields of agricultural, mining & engineering industries. Scott has extensive experience in Operations Management, Relationship Building, Tender development & Contract Management, Inventory/Procurement, Engineering, Maintenance Management and Project Engineering. He is the Holder of NACE, Trade and Post Graduate University qualifications in Structural repairs, Coating Inspection and Asset Management and continuing to study part-time as undergraduate Bach. Of Eng. (Civil) student through Central Queensland University.
Max Simmons – Managing Director (Epimax)
Max pursued a career in materials science in Australia and the USA following completion of his Advanced Chemistry education at the University of Sydney. The development and application of innovative polymer construction solutions has been a major focus over the last 30 years. Max started his tenure in the industry at Raychem Corporation USA in 1976 – 1984, then returning to Australia to take up the role of Managing Director for Epirez Construction Products, 1984 – 1992. Following on from this, he became Managing Director of ITW Polymers and Fluids, 1992 – 1999. He then went on to establish EpiMax Systems in 2002, where he remains to the present day.
David Anderson – Sales Manager (Universal Corrosion Coatings)
David Anderson has occupied senior management roles in coatings companies over 30 years and has developed an unparalleled expertise in the design and customisation of coating systems for pipelines, structures and Jetty Piles.
Jamie O’Brien – Country Cluster Sales Manager – Australia, New Zealand & PNG, Marine & Protective Coatings (AkzoNobel
Jamie Has been in the protective coatings industry for almost 30 years, beginning his career as a quality control chemist for Taubmans paints in their Perth factory in 1991.
He has held a number of senior roles in various disciplines, including Australasian Technical Manager, Global Marketing Communications Manager and WW Market Manager for the Power Generation sector before taking up his current role of Sales and Business Manager for ANZ PNG last year. During his career, he has served time in a number of key markets (Marine, PC and Yacht), and key geographies (UK, China, India, SEA) and has accumulated a wealth of experience.
