An ACA Board meeting was held on Saturday 27 May 2017 in Sydney.  Below is a meeting summary from Chair Dean Wall

The AGM was conducted in Sydney on 25 May within 5 months from the conclusion of the ACA financial year (as per the South Australian Incorporations Act) and our 2016 annual report has now been lodged with the South Australian Government.

Training attendance has been slow year to date and we are below budget, so it’s very important that the industry continues to support our training and that the ACA continues to diversify its training offering.

The ACA annual conference planning is well underway and we are aiming for over 500 delegates. Dean Wall and Wesley Fawaz attended the NACE conference in New Orleans with key meetings undertaken with NACE, EFC & SSPC strengthening these relationships.

The Board discussed and/or approved new policies and updated existing policies including; Member Code of Conducts and Ethics (existing), Board Charter (existing), Governance Committee Charter (existing), Credit Card Policy (existing), Conflict of Interest Policy, Whistleblower Policy, Disaster Recovery Policy. All policies will soon be available on the ACA website.

The Board approved a new YCG Award which will recognise the significant contributions of members to the ACA and the corrosion profession from those who are under the age of 35 with the award to be announced each year during the gala dinner of the annual conference.

Nominated by the Victoria Branch, Jessica Lyndon was approved as the Junior Vice President. Jessica is the Secretary of the Victoria Branch and recently submitted her PhD thesis at Monash University which investigated the use of magnesium as a temporary implant material for orthopaedic applications.

ACA Foundation Chairman Warren Green attended the meeting and updated the Board on recent Foundation activities which include appointing an Executive Officer 3 days a week until November to coordinate its activities.  Projects in the works include Secondary Schools Plan, a Young Ambassador Program and Sponsored Corrosion Fact Sheets.
