The Tasmanian branch of the ACA will be meeting for their first event of the year, in conjunction with the Royal Institution of Naval Architects for a guest lecture from ACA stalwart and Australian Stainless Steel Development Association (ASSDA) Technical Specialist Professor Graham Sussex and an additional presentation from Basyl Jakimow of Welding Management Services. Graham’s lecture will focus on Copper Nickel and its use in seawater piping and the importance of correct procedures & practices in welding of stainless steel. Whereas Basyl’s presentation will focus on welding standards for stainless steel. Come and connect with friends old and new, enjoy the beautiful yacht club and keep informed on some important considerations in the of use Stainless Steel in a Marine Environment.
Professor Graham Sussex – Graham has over 35 years experience in hands-on consulting experience in corrosion and materials investigations with a focus on stainless steels and nickel alloys. Since 2001 he has been the Technical Specialist for the Australian Stainless Steel Development Association (ASSDA) providing technical advice, giving presentations and writing articles. Since 2014, this has included work for the Nickel Institute. His consulting work includes design and problem-solving at desalination plants around Australia as well as industrial and marine applications of stainless steels in immersed and atmospheric exposures.
