The ACA has decided to discontinue the ACA Coating Inspection Certificate phasing it out by 2022. This decision was made in light of a number of factors, including a decreasing number of Certificate holders, the growing popularity of the internationally recognised NACE Coating Inspection Program Certification, conducting Refresher courses at a financial loss and the cost of the need to re-write the Refresher course.
It is intended that the ACA CIR Refresher Course will be discontinued as at 1st January 2018. From that date it will no longer be possible for an individual to renew their ACA Coatings Inspection Certificate. All existing Certificates will subsequently expire within the following 5 year timeframe (up to 31/12/2022) dependent on the date they were refreshed prior to 1/01/18.
Current ACA Coating Inspection Certificate holders can complete an ACA Coating Inspection Refresher Course (whether they are due for it or not) in 2016 or 2017 in order to extend the life of their Certificate to the final date of validity.
Holders of both an ACA Coating Inspection Certificate and a NACE CIP Level 1 Certificate will continue to be able to renew their ACA Certificate up until 31st December 2017, by completing the Refresher Form and providing a copy of their NACE wallet card to the ACA as per current practice.
During the phase-out period, ACA CIR Courses will be scheduled to run on the following dates:
- Australia 2016 – 5 December
- Australia 2017 – 4 December
- New Zealand 2016 – 29 October
- New Zealand 2017 – 27 October
Only individuals with current ACA Coating Inspection Certificate’s will be able to renew their Certificates within the phase-out period.
From 1/01/18, the NACE CIP Level 1 Course (with its associated renewal requirements) will be the only course of its kind offered by the ACA.
All current (and recently expired) holders of the ACA Coating Inspection Certificate will be notified by mail and email in March 2016. If you do not receive this notification, please email the ACA at firstname.lastname@example.org or phone +61 3 9890 4833.
