The CIP Level 2 Course focuses on advanced inspection techniques and specialised application for both steel and non-steel substrates.
The course includes in-depth coverage of surface preparation, coating types, inspection criteria, and failure modes for various coatings including specialized coatings and linings.
The course concludes with a with practical (hands-on) examination. Students are also required to sit a theory examination after the course concludes at a Pearson VUE testing centre.

Who Should Attend: Anyone who is interested in increasing his or her coating inspection knowledge, or wants to become a Certified NACE Coating Inspector, should attend this course.

Materials and Assessment: Students will receive the CIP Level 2 Course Manual on CD-ROM prior to the start of course. A course manual, Corrosion Prevention by Protective Coatings, and TPC-9 Users Guide to Hot Dip Galvanizing for Corrosion Protection in Atmospheric Service will be provided to students on-site.

Those who have successfully completed CIP Level 1 and have TWO  years of verifiable coatings-related work experience may register for the level 2 CIP course. Please note as of January 2016, NACE International have made the following changes for those who wish to attend the level 2 training: 


The NACE International Institute has approved changes to the Coating Inspector Program that will enhance field experience requirements for CIP Levels 2 and 3 examination candidates. The purpose of this change is simply to protect the value and reputation of all certifications that already have been issued (including yours) by ensuring that persons who achieve CIP 2 or 3 are not entering the higher levels without minimum required experience.

Starting January 1, 2016, all candidates wishing to apply for:

CIP level 2 must demonstrate that they have a minimum of TWO (2) years work experience as a Coating Inspector.
