CIP Retake Policy

CIP Practical Exam Retake:
❖ A student who fails the practical exam, but passes the CBT exam, will only be required to retake the practical exam.
❖ Students must register through the Licensee or Partner for the entire course with a 20% discount each time they wish to retake the practical exam.
❖ Retake students may elect to attend the entire course, or only attend certain days during the week, or attend only on practical exam day (last day of a scheduled class). NACE highly encourages students to attend all days of class and not show up only on exam day.
❖ There is no waiting period between practical exam retakes.
❖ A student manual is given to all practical exam retake students.

CIP CBT Exam Retake:
❖ A student who fails the CBT exam, but passes the practical exam, will only be required to retake the CBT exam.
❖ Students must register through Pearson VUE for the CBT exam retake at a cost of $150.00 USD for each retake.
❖ For the first CBT exam retake (second attempt), there is not a waiting period. For the second CBT exam retake (third attempt), a student must wait no less than four (4) months after the previous exam retake.
❖ The authorization to take the CBT exam is good for no more than 18 months from the time of course registration. All attempts must be taken within that timeframe.
❖ NACE candidates must reschedule and/or cancel CBT exam appointments at least one full business day (24 hours) prior to their CBT appointment via a designated call center. Appointments must be rescheduled within the authorized exam delivery period. All registrations with accommodations must be rescheduled or cancelled through the call center.
❖ Once a student has failed the CBT exam a total of three (3) times, the student must retake and pass the entire course requirements (including attending all days of class, passing the logbook (for CIP Level 1), and passing the practical exam) at the full registration price in order to receive authorization to test for CBT again. The full registration price includes another CBT exam authorization for three more CBT attempts and the first CBT attempt cost is included using a voucher (just like the initial registration).
